Former UNC women athletes will participate in their annual Trailblazer Reunion. These leaders have a full schedule of activities on this Friday…culminating with a book signing by one of their own!

Doris Steffy, Professor Emeritus of Physical Education will sign her books,
Mrs. Steffy, Our Mother, the Mortician.

“When Florence Steffy’s (mother of Doris) husband died in 1937 she was left with four children, almost no professional skills, and no license to continue the family’s funeral business. In an era when people believed that a woman’s place was in the home she decided to go to embalming school and carry on the work her husband had begun. Doris Steffy lovingly chronicles her mother’s journey from homemaker to funeral director in this moving memoir.”

An Open Book is very excited to be part of this day! The signing is open to the public and I encourage those of you who enjoy reading works from independent authors from our region, to stop by and enjoy the afternoon with Doris and her friends.
