August Opening Letter

Friday, August 15th, 2008

Hopefully, being committed to change is not just rhetoric from all political parties involved in this fall’s election. Making choices from “sound bites…comedy shows…and news streamed across our home page in one or two sentences”…HOPEFULLY our populace is NOT doing this but instead is reading entire speeches, listening to entire debates, and reading entire books before choosing their “change-maker.” Leading by example would probably be a great idea, don’t you think?

We will continue to stock books for both party’s candidates as they are published…though, at this point…one party has more titles than the other. We keep looking…any suggestions?

March Opening Letter

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

If our January “resolutions” have expired and gone…I guess that during this time of birth and new beginnings, we can… (I hope) begin again!

More sunlight buds appearing and not so many layers give us hope in March! So, have we kept our promise to read a new author, a new genre…a debut novel? Maybe we can help! As we take time to “spring clean” in our wonderful little shop, we have placed an assortment of titles on our “Back-Door” table, and they are all 50% off during the month of March and April. Lots of chairs close by so bring your coffee and browse for as long as you’d like!

We have a large selection of Easter Books! Don’t forget that Easter is March 23rd!!

February Opening Letter

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008

Thank you to so many loyal supporters…our author event, featuring Binka Le Breton was well-attended! Binka read and discussed her book, THE GREATEST GIFT, and left us all with a feeling that there is need to become involved with the tragedy occurring in the Amazon Rainforest.

We have books signed by Binka at the store, with quantities limited.

And…if you have the time, visit the Partners of the Americas website: www.partners.net and the local chapter website: www.coloradominaspartners.home.comcast

A special thank you to Steve and Jan Waechter for bringing Binka to our store, and to Betty and Roger Brown for their support in “getting the word out” about our signing. Oh, and stop by the Sod Buster Bed and Breakfast as Steve and Jan are the new owners!

Roger Johnson, AP history teacher at Greeley West High School and soon to be published author (by Random House, no less) patiently reminded me that he had introduced a local author, Gail Rowe, to me when I first opened.
